Step1 I found I was interesting in historic houses,so I found the Historic
Places Trust,and I have 3 options in Auckland,they are
- Alberton
- Ewelme cottage
- Highwic
And I decided to choose Alberton for my destination.
Here is the link the Historic Places Trust.
Historic Places Trust
Step2 I sent an email to them and make an appointment. The manager Penny was quite happy with my task.So we made an appointment at 2:30 last Thursday.
Unfortunately,Penny was busy with her job,so the volunteer Jane helped me with
my task questions.
Here are the questions:
1.Before the house was left to NZ Historic Places Trust, was it only owned by the Kerr Taylors,I mean that had it owned by any other families or organisations?
2.Why did the kerr Taylors leave the house to the NZ Historic Places Trust, where did they live after doing that in 1972?
3.After coming here, I found that the lifestyle at that time is much different from nowadays,my question is that is the life much easier than nowadays or not?
4.What were the entertainments they used to have at that time even it didn't have a radio?
5.How many people visit here a day normally?

Reflection
For task4,I was given the topic about the
old & new things related to the NZ culture, also before this I was already
had some ideas about the old buildings in NZ. At the some time I had the idea
and I found the website which I give above about the house Alberton, I talked
to some classmates, 2 of them were both interested in that, so we wanted to do
the task in a group which really made the confusing task much easier.
At the first, it was quite surprised me
that for that young country it has lots of historical places, like Alberton
which has located there for more than 100 years. Then, the organization is
trying to keep it like it used to be very hard.
We made an appointment with the manage
Penny but unfortunately she was quite busy with some other groups so that we
had interviews one by one with another lovely stuff Jane who was an volunteer
working there.
During the interview, I found I made some
grammar mistakes and didn't do well at pause, but Jane was very kind to answer
my questions and spoke very clearly and slowly for me with great patience.
Over all, I did a
great step at this task oven I can do better;,anyway, thank for my classmates
Maryam and Jessica. Maybe I can also add some more minutes for my group to ask
some questions for my task. Anyway, I like the house Alberton, It is quite
different from I used to see in China .
How are you getting on with this?
ReplyDeleteGood job, Adrian. You had some interesting questions, and as you said, Jane was very patient and thorough in answering them. I am glad you enjoyed collaborating with your classmates on this task, and hope you feel confident to do group work again sometime. I look forward to seeing your group presentation....
